Welcome to the Gila Bend Unified School District

Gila Bend Unified School District No 24 is located in Central Arizona amidst the beautiful lands of Maricopa County. Gila Bend Unified School District No. 24 was founded in February 1887. The School District is named after the town of Gila Bend which is located on and named for the bend in the Gila River. The current Gila Bend School building was built in May of 1925 and took on its first student in September of 1925. Today Gila Bend Unified School District continues to serve over 450 students grades K-12.

Dear Students/Parents/Community,

The State of Arizona was just informed this morning, March 30th, that Governing Ducey extended school closures through the end of the school year for all school districts. The Gila Bend School District's last day of school is Thursday, May 21st. Here are our next steps:

1. We will continue to offer breakfast and lunch bags Tuesdays thru Fridays until May 21st (last day of school).

2. We will continue to offer enrichment learning packets with Special Needs Accommodations attached through May 21st. We will communicate a date and time to return the enrichment packets for credit. This will assist our teachers to formulate final grades to determine promotions and graduation.  We encourage all students/parents to communicate via email with their teacher(s) for packet assistance. Please call our school offices if you need a teacher's email address.

3. Promotions and Graduation: We will offer a small promotion ceremony to PreK, Kinder, and grade 8 students. Wait for further details. Graduation for our seniors will take place in a small venue also. These events will need to be small (i.e., parents and/or guardians only) with a very short ceremony. We will also offer Facebook live during these events. Again, please stay tuned for further details.

Let's remain calm and student-focused. We WILL get through this. THANK YOU EVERYONE for your dedication and hard work.

Anthony Perkins
